Liquid-transfer pumping · performance scenario

Whangārei Harbour · Ruakākā · Pacific/Auckland · NZDT (UTC+13 at demo snapshot)
Terminal Command
DEMO · Synthetic operating records as at 28 October 2026. Not live telemetry, actual contracts, inspection evidence or operational authority.

Liquid-transfer pump · DEMO comparison

Not an Equipment record, live pump fleet or confirmed Channel pump specification. No speed setting is sent to equipment. Changes are browser-only and are not written into the energy inventory or savings ledger.

Hydraulic power ÷ wire-to-liquid efficiency
Annual energy-cost difference
NZ$91,991
Positive = lower cost at comparison efficiency; negative = increase

Illustrative pump–system intersection

No compressor surge line, fabricated measured spectrum or generic vibration alarm is used. This local system curve is not a calibrated model of the 170 km pipeline.

Energy comparison, not verified savings

NZ$896,914/year at current assumed efficiency; 511.1 MWh/year difference at unchanged flow and head.

No capital cost, emissions factor, carbon benefit or payback is assumed. Do not add this single-pump illustration to the separate terminal/pipeline energy inventory. Before booking savings, the energy lead and independent finance reviewer should reconcile metered electrical demand at comparable product, rate, head and operating hours.

Evidence required · OEM duty envelope

Confirm the actual tag, certified head/efficiency curves, impeller diameter, permitted speed range, minimum continuous flow and bearing requirements.

Evidence required · Cavitation and suction

Measure suction absolute pressure, temperature, vapour pressure and level; compare NPSHa with the OEM NPSHr plus the approved margin. No NPSH result is implied here.

Evidence required · Condition and redundancy

Obtain calibrated vibration spectra, bearing temperature, seal leakage and actual duty/standby availability. A generic vibration number is not a site limit or a root-cause diagnosis.

Evidence required · Release and verification

An accountable engineer must approve any speed or duty change after hydraulic/surge and protection review. Verify flow, differential head, real electrical kW, vibration, seal condition and suction performance against approved criteria at the agreed duty; retain calibrated baseline and post-work records.

Exposed curve and cost assumptions

With Q in m³/h, head H in metres and relative speed r: Hp = 700r² − 0.00125Q²; Hs = 150 + 0.0021875Q². The 700 m shut-off head, 150 m static head and both resistance coefficients are invented DEMO constants, not OEM or site data. Intersection solves Hp = Hs. Defaults are 100% speed, 800 kg/m³ density, 70% current / 78% comparison overall efficiency, 8,000 hours/year and NZ$0.18/kWh.

Electrical kW = ρ × 9.81 × (Q/3,600) × H ÷ (1,000 × efficiency). Annual cost = kW × hours × NZ$/kWh. Efficiency is assumed constant at each comparison duty; no affinity-law efficiency guarantee, NPSH check, minimum-flow check or transient solution is provided. The speed range shown is a UI scenario range, not a permissible machine range.
