No data: needs two dated thickness readings (or an engineer rate) plus minimum required thickness.
Method, limits and inspection acceptance

DEMO two-point rate = thickness change ÷ elapsed years. Remaining life = (latest − assumed minimum) ÷ rate; no observed loss does not prove indefinite life. Likelihood brackets are <2 / <5 / <10 / <20 years. Consequence is an assumed record class, not an approved study. Interval = minimum of half remaining life, 10 / 5 / 3 / 1-year risk caps and the record maximum. These are illustrative API 580-style screens, not API 581 calculations, adopted API 653 intervals or statutory determinations. Dates are calculated from each synthetic inspection date; overdue comparison uses today.

The tank/pipeline integrity engineer must verify minimum thickness, measurement quality, applicable standards, licence conditions and approved intervals. After work, retain accepted repeat NDT and coating/settlement or pressure-test evidence as applicable; update the approved plan only after accountable review. The unassessed record deliberately demonstrates missing evidence.
